phew!

For those who are wondering how Josh's first week of teaching went--well, he survived! I think the first week was good in a lot of ways. He has a better feel for what it means to teach, what kids are like, what he needs to do in order to feel prepared. I was quite surprised when the low point of the week was finding out that the 3rd graders were little terrors... But I think he's devised a system to put them in their place. :) For my part, I've enjoyed hearing the stories, like the little kindergarten girl who just had to "give him five" when passing in the hallway. Josh is so tall that it's funny to imagine him bending over to give a little girl "five." I expect that things will get even better as he feels more experienced. We'll give it a year and see if being a teacher is his calling.
Anyway, we are relaxing and celebrating a bit this weekend. After all, Monday is Labour Day, so we'll do all our labouring on Monday. :)

You guys don't get tomorrow off?

Oh, we do. Normally we would spend Saturday and/or Sunday working on schoolwork, etc. But with Labour Day making it a long weekend, we could put that work off until today. Nice!

well, sarah, I wish you both the best of God's blessing as you set off on a new leg of your journey.
Tell Josh that he should *not* introduce the kids to Master of Puppets until they're up to grade 5.
