It's been a long time since my last post! I guess that's OK, since the title of my last post pretty much sums up life right now. Winter has gotten soooo old--bitterly cold and winds that make my eyes stream with tears. ALL I want is to be able to walk to class again, just to be able to walk outside without getting frostbite or breaking my tailbone.
But it's nice out today, and the sun is shining. Also, it's Friday and it's been a long week: 40+ conferences with my students and grading essays and reading 500-page novels, etc. Now we can celebrate the weekend.
Let's back up to Valentine's Day. It didn't start out well because the first thing I saw was a daddy-long-legs spider in our bathroom. What?? Aren't they all dead or sleeping? Don't they usually come out in the spring? Hmm... Here he is (or, was, I should say):Then the next thing I did on Valentine's Day was look outside, only to see the wind whipping around and more snow coming down. I immediately shut the blinds again:
But the rest of the day was good. I made little sayings out of chocolate that I left in strategic spots in the apartment for Josh. Plus I made a nice dinner and little mini-cheesecakes that we had with wine, and it was just a pleasant evening. Low-key. Chocolate!:
That's all for Valentine's Day. On to weather again. Whenever it's a little bit nice out, I make Josh go with me somewhere. Last Friday we went down to the Missouri River, drove around on some out-of-the-way roads. Here is Josh, holding up the Missouri River bridge:
And I guess for some people it's just normal to store cranes on their property. It was pretty rusty though:
That's all. Josh is working on another secret right now. He's been full of fun little secrets lately. This secret has to do with Valentine's Day, even though it was last week. I think it might be something like a treasure hunt. :)
