pumpkin soup and poetry

I made a very tasty pumpkin black bean chipotle soup the other day. However, the recipe was a little heavy on the chipotle! I can tolerate spicy food pretty well, but even I had to dilute the heat with some yogurt. Nevertheless, definitely worth making again because it's a very pretty orange colour AND healthy AND delicious:

In poetry news, it's fun to be part of the inaugural issue of Blossombones.

Also, every time I'm at the Barnes & Noble in Sioux City, I check out The Briar Cliff Review since it's a very handsome literary journal. So imagine my delight to find out recently that they've accepted one of my poems for publication in their spring issue! This will be my first print publication, so I'm excited about that.

Josh and I are going away on a little 1st anniversary trip this weekend, leaving tomorrow. We're looking forward to it immensely, and I'll update when we return.

Do you think the Chicago bean looks like the spaceship on the cover of _Childhood's End_?
