Last fall, we started the year with four of us in our office. It was grand. Then J left at Christmas. She was ABD and also having a baby. Now DG is also ABD and he left us for a bigger, cooler city. SG is not ABD; nevertheless, he got a coveted job teaching in Kelowna, BC, so he's left too.
I am the only one left in the office, and it's sad. I took over DG's desk, which is the only good part about everyone leaving. It has a nice view (except that I've already made a mess of it):It will be lonely now. Of course, new people will come in this fall and it will be fun to get to know them. But right now, I miss the old ones.
Hey, we have a hummingbird! Finally! He comes around every evening about 8:00 to snack from our feeder. He's only there for a minute or so, and he gets frightened easily, so it's hard to get any good pictures of him. Also, the very active barn swallows probably scare him too. Those swallows even try to dive-bomb us humans. They are protective of their nest with babies in it. Here's our hummingbird last night:
