Ah, procrastination....

Right now, I'm supposed to be working on a literary analysis for Houghton Mifflin. But looking through my photos from Ukraine, Hungary, etc. is proving to be much more fun. I hope to post a lot more of them in the next while (although it's taking me a loooong time getting around to downloading them all), but here's two to get us started.

This first one is probably my favourite from the whole trip--OK, maybe I'm lying. But I do like it. It's from the day we went to the abandoned babies ward of the hospital. I didn't want to ever let go of this one--I just wanted to stuff her in my backpack and take her home.

And here's the infamous/amorous old Russian fellow who lives on a vineyard in the Carpathian Mountains. He was the winemaker who has 70 different varieties of grapes. Here we're getting a sample straight from the barrel. He called the red wine "men's wine," and the white wine "women's wine." I like the red wine better.... (is that a sign of inner confusion?) Check out his gold teeth!!!

I can only allow myself this much of a break. More photos later--I have some real beauties of Europe.

Do svidanya!
